Taps Magazine Illustration

This is an illustration for an article in the Taps Magazine (Canada's national beer magazine) Fall 2010 issue. The illustration is in relation to the article about Canada's first (unsuccessful) brewery and Jean Talon - the man who initiated the project. Pick up the issue to read the article and see how the illustration relates to it. Plus it's a grand magazine all around.

Revisiting/recreating an old favourite

Back in the university days at the college paper, MONDO Magazine, we came up with an idea for a place mat, with games, for a made-up burger joint called MONDO Burger. I had to come up with some characters. I felt like revisiting this gem and rebooted one of the games to give it a renewed look. Featured here are Detective Delicious and the ever burger-crazed Burger Buccaneer. A bit absurb, but fun. Can you find what's different with each picture, kids?

Oh, I also included the original to compare, remarkable how one can get better.

And also, MONDO is still going strong, now as a web magazine - mondomagazine.net

Mayday Storyboard

Here's a condensed version of a storyboard I did for an upcoming episode of Mayday. What you're seeing in these images, in a nutshell, is as the plane rises the right engine begins smoking, plane rocks. Then left engine starts on fire. As the plane goes down the pilots see a snowy field. They crash into the pines - right wing breaks off, into the field - plane breaks apart, and all survive. Cool, no?

Another Beer Illustration

Another concept illustration for the beer book (colourized). With this one I was just trying to demonstrate my ability of drawing old-time barkeeps. Thought it'd be funny, even though he looks the part, he's a lousy pour.

A concept illustration for the beer book (colour version). I may recycle this one sometime as a neat homebrew label.

Coasters

Thought about having some custom coasters made. Here are a couple I made up. I like the simple, kind of oldschool style.
